Strengthening the Laboratory capacities at the Pediatric Cancer Centre

The Izmirlian Foundation supported the Hematology Center after Prof. R.H. Yeolyan by providing laboratory equipment and diagnostic devices to strengthen its diagnostic capacity and improve patient care.

Seven pieces of laboratory equipment and diagnostic devices were delivered and installed at the Hematology Center. The new equipment enabled faster and more efficient microbiological testing, including detection of fungal complications and gastrointestinal and bloodstream infections among immunocompromised patients. It also enabled accurate diagnosis of certain types of MDS, supporting doctors in determining appropriate life-saving or life-prolonging treatment.

Launched in 2017, the project has evolved over time in response to emerging humanitarian needs and major events, expanding its beneficiary groups accordingly. It supports displaced Diaspora Armenians, wounded military personnel and Armenians forcibly displaced from Artsakh.

The Izmirlian Medical Center (IMC) is the Izmirlian Foundation’s flagship healthcare project and its largest philanthropic investment in Armenia’s healthcare sector. The project was launched in Yerevan in 2008 through the initiative of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, with anchor donation support from the Izmirlian Foundation in collaboration with Louis Simone Manoogian.

Enabling equal access to treatment for the children with cancer from vulnerable families

This ongoing multi-phase project enables children with cancer from low-income and vulnerable families to access high-quality treatment and care in Armenia. It co-finances medicines, medical interventions and psychological support that aren’t fully covered by public healthcare funding. The initiative began in 2022 and has expanded through five consecutive phases.
